Encouragement for Hard, Scary, & Tough Times

Encouragement for Tough TimesI’ve struggled with how to start this blog and what posts I should write and the “mechanics” of writing a “pretty” posts. But in light of everything that is going on, my true desire right now is to give hope.

This has been a season where God has been dealing with me to throw pride aside and to put His agenda above my own.

As I’ve prayed and sought God in this hour, He continues to put me at ease and give me peace and joy, yes joy! In the midst of what’s going on.

Right now I just want to share this passage that I just finish reading that gives me sooo much and allows me to be sooo grateful for God’s compassion to His children.

Read this passage, meditate on it, and be filled with hope, joy, thankfulness for who He is. Rest in His arms.

Psalm 91

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Meditate on this chapter and know that God is with you.

If you do not have a relationship with God or you have not been living a life that reflects your relationship with God. Don’t lose hope.

This is the time to turn to Him. Repent for your wayward living, ask for His forgiveness, seek His way. God is gracious to forgive. His desire is that His people turn to Him.

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

If you do not have a relationship with God or don’t know Him but want too. Than you need to believe that He sent His one and only son to die for your sins so that you may have eternal life. Believe, confess it, and receive Him in to your heart.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

If you received Jesus in your heart for the first time.. Praise the Lord!!! and welcome to the family.

Next Steps

Now that you are a child of God, the next step would be to get into His word and start building on your relationship with Him.. ask the Holy Spirit (you received once you accepted Jesus) to help and guide you.

If you don’t have a bible, you can download an app, one of my favorites is you version. I also recommend getting a physical bible that you can hold, highlight, and really get in to.

Some places that offer free bibles (and free shipping)..

Well first I want to mention.. you can also go to a local church and ask for one. I don’t know of any churches that if you went and asked for a bible would deny you. Now on to the list for other options.

Bibles for America– They only have the New Testament but that’s a great start because it’s when Jesus came and you can study who Jesus is and what He came to do.

My Free Bible– They will send the NIV version which is a great translation for you to understand what your reading.

The US Bible Society– I’m not sure what bible version they will send but it will be a great start.

I will be doing more posts about growing in your relationship with Christ so make sure you subscribe to be notified. Also be sure to follow me on instagram for encouragement in your new journey.

Please don’t afraid in this time. God is in control, grow in your relationship with Him and share the good news of Jesus.

God bless,

One faith filled lady
